Fine quality Srikalahasti pen work hand-painted Kalamkari Chanderi silk-cotton. This exquisite piece is created with Srikalahasti style of Kalamkari, wherein the 'kalam' or pen is used for free-hand drawing of the subject and filling in the colors. It is entirely hand worked using natural colors.
Kalamkari in Srikalahasti has been around for approximately 200 years. Unlike other places where this particular craft is practiced, artists in srikalahasti retain the ancient techniques of dyeing that have been passed down from generations. As it is hand-painted/handcrafted, color spread and irregularities in design is common; hence, it won't be considered damaged or defective.
